However you marked the end of our last cycle around the sun and the beginning of this new one, we hope you did it with unbridled love and self-appreciation. After a new start and a clean break, it’s so easy to get caught up in the same cycles and fall slave to the same emotional patterns of shame, disappointment, anger and self-judgment. Unfortunately for many of us, the weeks after New Year’s are a time of disillusionment, when some of our best intentions give way to the shadow aspect of ourselves that we least want to confront.

If at any time in these last two weeks you’ve stood in front of the mirror and asked, “What’s the point? I’ll always be unattractive,” or if in a moment you’ve gotten lost in your thoughts and suddenly realized you’re rehashing all the old painful stuff, know that you are not alone. More importantly, know this: This is when change really begins. This is the moment you awaken and become the person you were always meant to be.Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 11.23.44 AM

Now that the excitement of January 1st has faded, this is the perfect time to look over and review what has or has not worked in the last couple of weeks and get clear about what you really want for yourself this year. Forget losing twenty pounds, sticking to your budget, networking at least once a week and/or any other high-flying but ultimately unrealistic and unsatisfying societal ideals you promised you’d uphold this year. What are your ideals? What makes your heart sing, soar, shine, split open and pour out love? The key to your journey is hidden in the answer to this question. Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 11.23.44 AM

So forget New Year’s. New Year’s is the mediocre opening act to the indescribable magic that is the rest of your life. Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 11.23.44 AM And every moment you devote to self-exploration and self-love, to challenging your old beliefs and stepping into joyful ways of being in this world, is another step closer to you vibrating at your highest potential, regardless of what day of the year it is.

So make today–this normal, mundane, not-so-special day–the ultimate celebration of your life. Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 11.23.44 AMBecause today is the day you awaken again to a new sunrise, to a new breath and to your truest happiest self, if you so choose. And guess what? You get to do it again tomorrow!

Today can be just as mind-blowingly awesome and full of hope and determination as New Year’s. Except instead of celebrating with just anyone, you get to celebrate with the ultimate partiers, those who have figured out the secret to life, those who know that every single day is a clean slate and every new breath a gift. It’s up to you what you do with it. Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 11.23.44 AM
